BendBroadband’s JAZZ AT THE OXFORD PRESENTS: JEREMY PELT WITH THE MEL BROWN TRIO

“Among the foremost 30-something neo-bop players in jazz today.” All About Jazz

A mainstay in the NYC jazz scene since his 1998 arrival, and after graduation from Berklee College of Music, Pelt got his first break with the Mingus Big Band. He regularly accompanies many of the greats, including Jimmy Heath, Ravi Coltrane, Cedar Walton, Bobby Short and Nancy Wilson. Pelt is a technical marvel, who executes intricate solos with ease, plays gorgeous ballads in a tasteful manner, and never lacks flair or sensitivity. His appearance in Bend firmly establishes Jazz at the Oxford’s growing reputation for booking a range of jazz styles, including exposing the audience to the tradition of swinging be-bop. Jeremy will be backed by one of the world’s great jazz drummers, Portland’s Mel Brown, together with Tony Pacini on piano and bassist Ed Bennett.
